International House

International House is an independent, self-supporting, educational nonprofit organization affiliated with UC Berkeley. Rooms are completely furnished with a phone, beds, dressers, desks, desk lamps, and chairs. Restrooms and showers are shared off of the main hall. Floors are co-ed, but restrooms and showers are single sex. High-speed internet is available in all rooms (a one-time fee may apply.) Nineteen meals a week are included.
All applicants must fill out the online application form which is available at the I-House summer session website. If you choose to live at I-House, make sure to arrange for travel to and from Berkeley Lab according to the dates you will stay at I-House. Otherwise, you could be homeless for a night or two.

Telegraph Commons is a private 120-bed dormitory that offers affordable housing to UC students and visiting scholars. Rooms are furnished and common areas include a full kitchen on each floor, as well as TV and study lounges. There are DSL outlets in all rooms, and DSL is free to residents.
