Mentors must

• Be Berkeley Lab staff (guests may co-mentor with a staff member).
• Be at the Lab for the duration of the internship.
• Be responsible for on-the-job safety training.
• Review and approve the intern’s deliverables (posters, papers, etc.).
• Complete necessary Environment/Health/Safety (EHS) training for mentors and supervisors.
• Acknowledge WDTS support in presentations and publications accordingly:
  • SULI: When acknowledging WDTS support, please use the following statement: “This work was supported in part by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Science, Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) under the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship.”
  • MLEF: When acknowledging U.S. Department of Energy support, please use the following statement: “This work was supported in part by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Fossil Energy, under the Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF) program.“
  • VFP: When acknowledging WDTS support, please use the following statement: “This work was supported in part by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Science, Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) under the Visiting Faculty Program (VFP).”
