About Workforce Development & Education (WD&E)
We use Berkeley Lab’s resources to inspire and prepare the next generation of scientists, engineers, technologists, and STEM professionals. We promote equal access to scientific and technical careers for students from diverse backgrounds and support excellence in science and engineering teaching. We also form strategic partnerships to expand our reach.
We offer a range of programs for students of different ages. Through these programs, people come to the Lab to engage in hands-on science activities, and Lab staff share their skills and passion for science out in the community. Our programs include internships for undergraduate students, graduate students, and university faculty. We also support divisions’ educational outreach efforts by providing materials, funding, volunteers, project management, and administrative support.
