The Dept of Energy has announced that Berkeley Lab received a ‘A-‘ in all eight categories of its annual evaluation of the performance of the national laboratories, including an ‘A’ in the Mission Accomplishment category. SULI mentor leads climate change research
An international team of researchers led by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and UC Berkeley have used a novel methodology combining remote sensing, machine learning, and terrestrial biosphere models to find that plants are photosynthesizing more now than previously. SULI mentor Trevor Keenan was the lead author of this study.

SULI mentor leads energy efficiency investigation
Maurice Garcia-Sciveres, a SULI mentor, and Ramamoorthy Ramesh Berkeley Lab are designing new microchips that could perform better – and require less energy – than silicon. Over the next three years, they will lead two of the 10 projects recently awarded nearly $54 million by the Department of Energy to increase energy efficiency in microelectronics design and production.
