Welcome to WD&E’s newest employees! Marking the start of a new year, we are excited to announce the addition of three new team members to the Workforce Development and Education Department: Janique Ernest, Ingrid Ockert, and Brieanna Wright:
Janique C. Ernest will be our WD&E Program Assistant. Janique brings with her a wealth of knowledge in the administrative and clinical fields. In her previous role as an executive business office assistant, she successfully coordinated a vast array of national conferences, training sessions, group events, and executive meetings. In addition, Janique implemented a process improvement program and aided in streamlining policies and procedures that were used to improve customer service support. Janique plans to continue pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in business and will use those learned skills in her new role as an Administrative Assistant III with Berkeley Lab. Janique enjoys spending time with family, interior design, and vocal training.
Ingrid Ockert will serve as WD&E’s Marketing Communications Coordinator. As a part of the WD&E team, Ingrid assists with branding and communications content, while supporting WD&E’s online engagement. Ingrid is a graduate of Princeton University, where she earned a doctorate for her study of science and media (‘18). Ingrid has written for Science, Physics Today, and Scientific American. She has organized public programming and outreach materials for the Science History Institute and Princeton University’s Council on Science and Technology. Ingrid is also an alum of StoryCollider. In her spare time, she likes to explore nature and listen to jazz.
Brieanna Wright will be joining the team as the Internship Coordinator. She will be supporting undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate interns, as well as coordinating programs, visits, and events. Prior to joining Berkeley Lab, Brieanna (UC Berkeley ’11) received her Masters in Counseling at San Francisco State University. She also served as an Academic Counselor and Program Director for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and the Incentive Awards Program (IAP) at UC Berkeley. She oversaw direct support services and programming for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students, graduate interns, and professional staff. She is deeply committed to supporting the development of our current and future change-makers and innovators. In her spare time, Brieanna enjoys crocheting and spending time with family.
Our new team members look forward to meeting all the researchers and staff at Berkeley Lab. They’re excited to help WD&E develop and expand the Lab’s internship and outreach programs. With their help, we continue to create a welcoming environment for our visiting students, staff, and researchers at Berkeley Lab. Please feel free to connect with our director Colette Flood if you’d like to learn more about the Lab’s many internship and mentorship opportunities.
