Susan A. BradySusan Brady Wells
Workforce Development and Education Office

Susan Brady Wells manages the Workforce Development and Education Office, where she designs, implements, and oversees Berkeley Lab educational outreach programs for teachers, students, faculty members, and Lab employees.

Susan was most recently the Director of Education at the New York Academy of Sciences in Manhattan.  Prior to that, she was the Director of Education Programs at the Merck Institute for Science Education from 2001-2006, where she coordinated all professional development efforts and served as co-PI for a 5-year, $7.1M National Science Foundation Math-Science Partnership project.

She began her career at the Lawrence Hall of Science, where she played numerous roles from 1986-2001, including outreach coordinator, curriculum developer, and professional developer.  She served as the Director of the Bay Area Science Project, Assistant Director of the Center for School Change, and Implementation Director for the Science Education for Public Understanding Program (SEPUP) project, as well as developing life science curriculum for the Full Option Science System (FOSS) program and authoring Microscopic Explorations, a teacher guide in the Great Explorations in Math and Science (GEMS) series in collaboration with the Microscopy Association of America.

Susan received her BS in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern California and her PhD in Marine Botany from the University of California at Berkeley.

Outside of work, Susan loves her life as a single mom of twin boys, is active in her church community, and enjoys the beach, baseball, college football, mystery novels, game nights, friends who volunteer to babysit, and sleeping in whenever she can.
